Electric Mini Cooper: A Week of Emissions-Free Driving

September 22nd, 2008 by Max Gladwell · 10 Comments

We have the Hybrid Technologies all-electric LiV Flash for a week of testing prior to the Alt Car Expo in Santa Monica.

Hybrid Technologies needed a place to park its all-electric Mini Cooper, otherwise known as the LiV Flash, for a week between the Emmys and Alt Car Expo. And we’re happy to oblige. Here are the first photos. We’ll follow up with a full review, video, and more photos throughout the week.

From the company: “Performance Punch. Distinctive personality meets advanced drive technology with the lithium version of this British invader. No fuel required to quietly maneuver city streets, and reliable, instantaneous performance punches up to highway speeds. Better buckle up.”

Sexy package and no gas. Nice!

(: I suppose the electricity from this is only and always from alternative fuel sources. No coal was burned to electrify the car. :)

I have an older car in the shop this very day, trying to be responsible and make it last as long as it will. (Just a few more years of minivan-sized transportation for the family.)

An electric mini-Coop? The car of my dreams. Can’t wait to read your review.

Wonder if the 0 to 60 in 9 seconds is accurate… Excited to hear your opinion as I will live vicariously through you.

Very cool. Although I think I still prefer the coming Jeep Wrangler EV!

While the car is Emissions-Free, unfortunately the predominate methods of creating electricity are not. Most still rely on fossil fuels.

This is at least a step in the right direction.
