Make Your Pitch to Save the Planet

June 4th, 2008 by Max Gladwell · 1 Comment

TechCrunch launches elevator pitch video community. Social entrepreneurs are some of the first in.

elevator pitches Make Your Pitch to Save the Planet“Today we are launching a little video project here at TechCrunch called Elevator Pitches. The premise is pretty simple: Startup founders and CEOs give us a 60-second video pitch about their companies, and our audience (that would be you) votes them up or down. You can think of it as a YouTube for elevator pitches (and, in fact, we are hosting the videos on YouTube and simply embedding them on the site).”

If you have a startup company or just an idea for one, there is now a venue in which to pitch your plan in the hopes of attracting some attention and possibly even funding. (There was actually a reality show similar to this, but we don’t think it made it.) Be aware that the comments can be harshly direct and critical, as well as complementary. Already, there are at least three pitches from the green space: Creative Citizen, which we’ve covered; Zero Footprint, and Go Green Solar. Now you know what it’s like to be a VC.

The video pitches are below after the jump.

Zero Footprint

Go Green Solar

The problem with this is it leaves the person open for the idea to be stolen.
If the idea has not been patented or protected what is to stop anyone from just ripping the person off and then disallowing this green idea? He may have stocks in oil or something or just hate environmentally minded people.
This type of interaction might make one believe one can give up the idea without fear of losing the idea when in fact the idea CAN be lost by this method.
You have to get a non-disclosure agreement signed by anyone you show the idea to unless you don’t care whether it gets ripped off and forgotten?
That’s how I understand that end of it.
Describe what you intend to accomplish and the benefits of the result.
