Art Meets Consumption Meets Reality

June 18th, 2008 by Max Gladwell · 2 Comments

Artist Chris Jordan illustrates the absurdity of our consumption and waste through art.

Artist Chris Jordan shows us a surprising view of Western culture, in this energizing look at numbers so big, we simply don’t (or can’t) think about them. His supersized images picture unimaginable statistics — like the astonishing number of paper cups we use every single day.

MG – thanks for posting this video! Jordan’s brilliant mind and creative genius, expressed through his art, is a stunning presentation to shock and wake us up individually and collectively to change our negative cultural trends and personal behaviors. He puts into perspective the real damage being done by our wasteful consumption and lifestyle choices with statistics that are mind boggling.

Great Post. Great Video. This is the type of media we need to motivate people to change.

I work in an office where dozens upon dozens of paper cups are used everyday, and it kills me everytime…its as people havent heard of mugs or glasses.

    keep up the great insight.
