Here's one more for your consideration:

http://www.vanno.com/

Vanno measures company reputations - how they treat their customers, employees, communities, the environment and society in general - by tapping into the "gossip cloud" that surrounds each and every company. It's a new application of social media - social evaluation, as it were.

Check it out - get Reputation Scores for thousands of companies, vote and comment on the user submitted Articles that underpin the Scores, and submit your own insights into company reputations.

Hey, this is great! I just wrote a paper about all of this type of civic action online (discussed on my blog) and wish I had come across your blog prior to submitting it to a journal! Either way, great post with great examples! I passed along the playgreen to my gf who I'm sure will love it.

Lynn: We participate in the Care2 community, as well. It's definitely the original, and they've adapted well to new social media technologies. We'll have a full review of Care2 soon enough. We agree that their social news service is better than Hugg.

I believe the biggest of all the do-good social networks is Care2.com. I’ve had an email account there for years too.

They also have a much more popular version of Digg than Hugg (which is kind of lame)

I hadn’t heard of some of these others. Thanks for the heads up.
