Despite hearing a number of warnings about plastic bottles and how toxic chemicals (Bisphenol A) that can leech out of them, I’m still not clear. So the friendly folks at NBC’s Today Show broke it down.
So what you need to remember is to AVOID any of these numbers on the bottom of any plastic bottle: 3, 6, and 7. And contrary to the reuse ethos, you shouldn’t refill basic water bottles (#1 on the bottom). Which is another way of saying you should steer clear of bottled water altogether.
Since Max Gladwell is also about Web 2.0, we have to comment on the static ads that may be served in this video. We got “Plastics Injection Molding” and a China-based plastic manufacturer. That certainly didn’t do anyone any good considering the audience that’s prone to watch this type of content.

I ditched my plastic drinking cup at home and switched back to my stainless steel one! Good information, my wife just inspected our plastic and most of them ended up being #5.

Also visit BottledWaterBlues.com. We switched to stainless Klean Kanteen (.com) water bottles for ourselves and our family, including sippy cups our our grandson last year. A note for women (especially during childbearing years): according to research, Bisphenol A is a xenoestrogen, which is a known endocrine disruptor that affects the hormonal messaging in our bodies.
