Facebook Pages 101

April 26th, 2008 by Max Gladwell · 1 Comment

Our friends at Facebook offer a guide to setting up a Page for your company, organization, or nonprofit.

The viral part is somewhat overstated. Should be a guide to “social media marketing”, as virality is more of an outcome that you hope for as opposed to a tactic in and of itself. But it sounds good. The recent DirecTV campaign spoofs this, where the cable company executive suggests “we go viral” by “blogging it out”.

In any event, this is a fairly comprehensive guide to utilizing Facebook Pages as a marketing medium, complete with how to advertise (of course).

Facebook Pages, which launched in November 2007, allows local businesses, sports teams, artists, films, brands, public figures, non-profits and other business organizations to have apresence on Facebook. Users can add themselves to your Facebook Page as fans, write on your Wall, purchase products, learn about special promotions, upload photos, and join other users in discussion groups. You can send Updates to all your fans whenever you like. And you can add applications to your Page and engage Facebook users with videos, notes, links, Flash content, and more.

You can download the PDF guide here.

    Thanks Max for posting this!

I was actually going to set up my first Facebook Page today ans stumbled upon your post which is very timely.

I just downloaded the pdf guide and it gives a really good overview of how to maximize a face page within Facebook and what the difference is between a face page vs. a profile page.
